Prevention of progression and recovery procedures after "open" operations for Dupuytren's contracture

The initial manifestations of Dupuytren's contracture are characterized by the appearance of dense nodes, cords and skin retractions on the palmar surface of the hand due to cicatricial degeneration of the palmar aponeurosis. The progression of the cicatricial process gradually leads to the formation of a limitation in the extension of the fingers involved in the pathological process. The function of the brush is not limited or there are minor restrictions. To prevent further progression of the disease, as well as in the presence of contraindications to surgical treatment, a complex physiotherapeutic treatment is recommended, including paraffin applications and electrophoresis or phonophoresis with Microbioserum Scar Treatment enzyme complex

 

Paraffin therapy on the brush

Paraffin therapy is an effective method of thermal treatment with low-melting purified paraffin. Paraffin warms up tissues, due to which their temperature increases by 1-3°C. Procedures with the use of paraffin have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, relaxing, antispastic, wound-healing, regenerating, resolving effects and promote better penetration of collagenolytic proteases into scar tissue.

Duration of the procedure: 30-40 min.

1. For 1 course you will need 1-1.5 kg of medical paraffin.

2. Choose a clean plastic container with low sides for the procedures, in which the brush can easily fit. Before starting the procedure, lubricate the bottom and walls of the container with vaseline oil.

3. Wash your hands thoroughly before the procedure.

4. Heat 500g of paraffin in a water bath to 60-65°C.

5. Pour the paraffin into the prepared container and let it cool down to 52-56°C.

6. Gently immerse the brush in paraffin for 5-10 seconds.

7. Gently, without sudden movements, take out your hand and wrap it with a towel or scarf.

8. After 30-40 minutes, remove paraffin from hand and discard.

9. Remaining cured paraffin from the container can be used for the next procedure.
